With oil price surging uncontrollable, food price like rice etc is causing great distress to ppl.?

Situation is gloomy n I think more dark clouds are coming. How can we do to make our family safe? With oil price surging uncontrollable, food price like rice etc is causing great distress to ppl.?
this has been coming for years, and it's not just the fuel prices driving the shortages. several grain producing nations had a bad crop due to weather etc. things will only get worse. sorry for the doom and gloom, but that's where we're at. there are too many people, and everyday the worlds croplands are diminished.

best thing to do is return to our roots, network with neighbors, and develop community gardens. and stockpile commodities such as grain. now, as it was in the beginning, it's all about the grain; animal protiens take far too long to develop. think instead of rice and corn, wheat and rye. and grow beans! they keep forever. With oil price surging uncontrollable, food price like rice etc is causing great distress to ppl.?
...and how much corn you figure will be coming out of iowa this year? it's mid june, and they have seed corn stacked up rotting, no place to plant it. Report Abuse

Stop using, and thereby stop buying fossil-fuels.

Wind-power is free - apart from buying the gear to catch it - and neither collecting it or using it, destroys the environment!!

It's even more accessible to farmers, who have the big open spaces that are so perfect for windmills. So there really is no excuse for foodprices going up!!

';But what about the truck transporting it?';, I hear you think.

The gas for the truck is nothing compared to the power needed to irrigate the fields, and harvesting the crops.

';Aha! The harvesting! They use gas for that!'; I hear you say - and you know, they do. But they don't pay the full price for it! Farmers get their diesel/gasoline tax free - no environment tax! - which is why it's coloured with dye: to prevent them from using it in the family car, or selling it to friends.
